Getting Started

We cover the entire continental United States. Our primary hubs are in Savannah GA, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, and Los Angeles CA — with coverage extending to all 48 contiguous states. Air freight services cover 150+ US airports.

Coverage

Our core network is domestic US. However, we work with trusted global freight partners for international shipments. Contact our team for international freight forwarding inquiries and we will connect you with the right solution.

International

Service Delta was founded in 2004 in Savannah, Georgia. Over 20+ years we have grown from a 3-truck regional carrier to a nationwide network with 1,200+ team members, 800+ vehicles, and 12 distribution hubs — maintaining a 98.7% on-time delivery rate throughout.

Shipping & Freight
7 questions

LTL (Less Than Truckload) — your shipment shares space and cost with other shippers. Best for loads under 10,000 lbs or fewer than 6–8 pallets.

FTL (Full Truckload) — you rent the entire truck exclusively. Better for large shipments, time-sensitive loads, or high-value cargo that can't be consolidated.

Ground Freight

Prohibited items include: explosives and ammunition, illegal substances, live animals, human remains, counterfeit goods, and financial instruments. Hazardous materials may be accepted under IATA/DOT regulations with proper documentation — contact us before booking.

Restrictions

To prepare for SDL pickup: palletize and secure cargo with stretch wrap and corner guards, label all pieces with origin/destination/contact info, have your Bill of Lading (BOL) ready, and ensure cargo is ground-level accessible. Our driver will inspect and sign at pickup.

Preparation

LTL: up to 20,000 lbs and 12 feet per item. FTL: up to 48,000 lbs in a standard 53-foot trailer. For oversized or overweight loads we offer specialized heavy haul services — contact us for a custom quote.

Dimensions

Yes. We offer refrigerated (reefer) and temperature-controlled trucking for perishables, pharmaceuticals, and food products. Temperature logs are included with every reefer shipment for compliance documentation.

Specialized

All shipments include basic carrier liability at $0.50/lb. For full cargo value protection, we offer declared value coverage — strongly recommended for shipments over $10,000. Ask your account rep when booking.

Insurance

Contact us immediately at +1 (912) 831-6313 and note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing. Claims must be filed within 9 months of delivery. We assign a dedicated claims specialist and aim to resolve within 30 business days.

Tracking & Visibility
5 questions

Your tracking number is sent via email and SMS at booking. It always starts with SDL- followed by the year and a 7-digit ID (e.g. SDL-2026-0039482). If you can't find it, call us at +1 (912) 831-6313 with your name or address.

Tracking

GPS tracking updates every 5 minutes on all active SDL vehicles. Hub scan events are logged in real time. You receive automatic alerts at: pickup confirmed, in transit, at destination hub, out for delivery, and delivered.

Updates

Static tracking is normal during overnight rest stops, hub sorting (2–6 hours), or weather delays. If tracking hasn't updated for more than 24 hours during a standard transit day, contact our support team and we will investigate immediately.

Troubleshooting

Yes. A Proof of Delivery (POD) with recipient signature, timestamp, and location is generated automatically on delivery. Download it from the tracking portal or request it via email from our support team.

Documentation

Yes. Add a recipient email and phone at booking to receive the same tracking notifications. You can also share a tracking link directly — anyone with the link can view real-time status without an account.

Air Freight
5 questions

Booking must be confirmed by 12:00 PM local time at origin for same-day departure. In major markets (Chicago, New York, LA, Dallas) extended cutoffs up to 2:00 PM may be available — contact us to check your route.

Air Freight

NFO means your freight goes on the very next available flight to your destination — regardless of time of day. We monitor all departures from your origin airport and secure space on the earliest possible option. Available 24/7.

Express

Yes. We are IATA-certified for dangerous goods by air. All hazmat air shipments require advance notice, proper classification (UN number and packing group), IATA-compliant packaging, and shipper's declaration documentation. Contact us at least 24 hours before required departure.

Hazmat

Weather delays are outside our control and not covered under the money-back guarantee. However, we immediately rebook on the next available departure and notify you in real time. Our air ops team monitors all flights 24/7 and proactively reroutes when delays are anticipated.

Delays

Yes. All SDL air freight tiers include full door-to-door service. Our couriers collect from your address, handle all airport processes including TSA compliance and cargo loading, and deliver directly to your recipient. You never need to visit an airport or cargo terminal.

Service Scope
Warehousing & Storage
5 questions

Our warehousing services include: short and long-term storage, climate-controlled storage, pick-and-pack fulfillment, cross-docking, inventory management, kitting and assembly, and outbound distribution. All facilities are monitored 24/7 with access control and CCTV.

Warehousing

Yes. We offer climate-controlled zones from 35°F to 75°F for pharmaceuticals, food products, electronics, and fine art. Humidity control is also available in select facilities.

Climate Control

Cross-docking transfers inbound freight directly to outbound transport within 24 hours — no long-term storage. It reduces handling time and cost for time-sensitive supply chains. We offer cross-docking at all 12 of our distribution hub facilities.

Cross-Docking

All warehouse clients receive access to our SDL Inventory Portal — a real-time dashboard showing stock levels, inbound receipts, outbound orders, and storage locations. Daily or weekly email reports also available. All inventory is scanned at intake and every movement is logged.

Inventory

Standard inventory has a 30-day minimum. For cross-docking and transit storage there is no minimum — you pay only for time on-site. Long-term agreements of 90+ days are eligible for volume discounts.

Billing & Pricing
5 questions

Pricing is based on: origin/destination, total weight, dimensional weight (L×W×H÷139), freight class for LTL, service level, and any accessorial charges (liftgate, residential delivery, etc). Fuel surcharges are included — no surprise fees at delivery.

Pricing

No. We use transparent all-inclusive pricing. Fuel surcharges and standard accessorial fees are included in your quoted rate. Any extras (re-delivery, address corrections, after-hours) are always communicated before being applied.

Transparency

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), ACH bank transfers, wire transfers, and Net 30 invoicing for approved business accounts. New customers prepay for the first three shipments; credit terms are available after that.

Payment

Yes. Businesses shipping 10+ loads per month or committing to annual volume are eligible for discounts of 8–25% depending on frequency, route consistency, and service mix. Email support@servicedeltalogistics.com to discuss contract pricing.

Volume

Invoices are emailed automatically within 24 hours of delivery confirmation. Net 30 accounts have 30 days from invoice date to pay. All invoices and payment history are available in your SDL account portal.
